She was the first to have broken a barrier that no other friend of the housewives had been able to achieve: turning a sometime gig into becoming a full-fledged, cast member of Bravo’s Real Housewives franchise. Brandi Glanville’s candid commentary, brash honesty, and pull-no-punches attitude scored her a promotion in the Beverly Hills franchise. These attributes are front and center in her new book, Drinking and Tweeting and Other Brandi Blunders. Ms. Glanville takes you through the emotional journey she traveled when finding out her husband, actor Eddie Cibrian, was having affairs that ultimately led to their shaky divorce.
Brandi’s voice is very much alive and well while recounting the painful episodes that precipitated her divorce. In true filter-less Brandi style, she describes in detail the darkness of a Hollywood divorce and how she has dealt with many “hiccups” along the rocky road of the separation. She openly discusses the agonizing episodes she experienced while her ex-husband married country music star Leann Rimes, who was his mistress during their marriage.
Of course, she’s blunt and bares her soul explaining the trials and tribulations in the book alongside letting her outrageous sense of humor shine through. My particular favorite chapter was where Brandi discusses having vaginal rejuvenation surgery on her ex-husband’s dime. At the end of each chapter appears a blurb to sum up the chapter called Brandi’s Babble. The babble for this chapter states, and I quote, “Ultimately, my husband got a new vagina….and so did I.” That quote was worthy of laughing out loud in the doctor’s office, while people stared at me like I was nuts.
Readers also get a look into Brandi’s origins and her intro into the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. The story of the breakup of her marriage and divorce provide insight into what was happening in the background during her initial episodes on the popular series. Rounding out the ‘Book of Brandi’ are her tales of sex and dating post-divorce. There were parts in the book where I truly felt Brandi’s pain, but had more moments where I was laughing hysterically at her ‘Brandi-isms’. In truth, I wished the book wouldn’t end. I love her raw, balls-to-the-wall personality. I can only hope Gallery Books adds more books to her contract so fans can experience more ‘Brandi Blunders’.
