Reality Roundup

The Real Housewives of New York City star, Heather Thomson is just one of the Real Housewives who is entering a courtroom this week.

Earlier this year, Heather, the Yummie Tummie shapewear creator, accused Sara Blakely, the billionaire founder of Spanx, of copying several of her designs that are protected by design patents. After an anonymous party sent a piece of Spanx shapewear to Thomson’s office, she “immediately recognized it as my original Yummie Tummie tank,” Heather told NY Magazine.

“We contacted Spanx by letter [through legal counsel] on Jan. 18 to notify them that they were infringing on my patent ideas and we asked them to cease and desist. Spanx then asked for a [one-month] extension to be able to do their own due diligence … They responded on Feb. 14 saying they didn’t think there was any patent infringement and requested another extension.”

“Anyone can make a claim, but it doesn’t mean it has merit,” Spanx told Today. “ Spanx has not infringed on any valid patent, and we will continue to make fabulous products for our loyal fans.”

After months of back and forth between companies, Spanx has filed a federal complaint in an Atlanta court arguing that Spanx has not infringed on any of Yummie Tummie’s patents.  Citing that it’s Top This Tank, Top This Cami, Total Taming Tank, and others “have not infringed and do not infringe any valid claim of the patents-in-suit.”

In an open letter to Sara, “We will not allow Spanx to bully us,” Heather wrote on the Yummie Tummie website. “Sara, I truly expected more of you as a fellow entrepreneur.” Yikes!

This is not the first time Heather and YT have been to court on this issue. In July she told us that she previously won an infringement suit against Maidenform.

Will either side be able to Skweeze Couture out of this one?

Heather is not the only Real Housewife headed to the courtroom this week.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star, Kandi Burruss is suing her RHOA co-star Kim Zolciak over the 2009 dance track Tardy for the Party. Kandi and songwriter Rodney Richard are claiming that they were never paid their fair share of royalties from the song sung by Kim, who apparently bagged all the profits.

E! Online reports that according to the lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court in Georgia, the song sold around 102,000 copies and downloads in 2009.

According to RadarOnline, the court documents state that Kim “marketed and sold the Infringing Single in various formats (e.g., compact disc, downloadable audio track, DVD, etc) and through various websites, all without Plaintiffs’ license, consent or authorization.”

Kandi and Rodney are also asking Zolciak to reveal exactly how much she made off the single and are seeking Kim to pay attorney’s fees and punitive damages.

If Kim does have to pay attorney fees, which lawyer will she be writing a check to? As it turns out, RHOA cast member, Phaedra Parks will be representing Kandi in court!

As John Basedow mentions, the topic of Tardy profits has been previously discussed on the season three reunion show of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. However, I am sure we will be hearing more about this lawsuit on the season five reunion, which was filmed the day after the lawsuit was filed.

“It was sad to say goodbye tonight,” Kim tweeted the day of the filming.  “I have such good memories these last 5 yrs but I’m so excited about my future! I will be forever grateful!”

Although Kim has officially left the cast of RHOA, both she and Kandi have spinoffs premiering this April on Bravo.

Kim and her husband, Atlanta Falcons defensive end, Kroy Biermann expand their family with the addition of a fourth child, Kash Kade, build a new custom home, and deal with all that life has to bring (including lawsuits!) in their official spin-off ironically titled, Don’t Be Tardy.

Kandi’s spinoff, entitled The Kandi Factory will follow the Grammy-award winner as she helps two protégés master the elements necessary to fulfill their dreams as  music artists in the demanding industry.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Lisa Vanderpump says that filming the season three reunion last week “wasn’t easy.”

“It’s always tricky,” the 52-year-old told E! News. “The last reunion for me was very hard. This time I think I was more assertive and really got my opinion and my voice out there.”

One person who didn’t hear Lisa’s opinion was former co-star Adrienne Maloof who skipped out on the reunion last week.

Lisa is currently dancing her fanny off as she rehearses for her debut on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars on Monday, March 18th.

“Ok..this is not easy,need Advil,hot bath,early night and a ticket outta here… #hotmess,” Lisa tweeted.

The former Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Dina Manzo is surely a busy woman! Since her split from ex-husband Tommy Manzo back in October, the event planner is set to star in a new soap opera inspired television show and a new reality series documenting her life post-divorce. Now, the mother-of-one has written a book!

Dina’s book entitled, It’s My Party and I’ll Plan If I Want To will most likely entail details and tips on how to throw a party.

While there is no set release date for Dina’s book, current RHONJ star and Dina’s sister, Caroline Manzo’s book, Let Me Tell You Something is set to hit shelves on March 26th.

It is no secret that The Real Housewives have their fair share of financial trouble. This time around it is The Real Housewives of Miami star Karent Sierra.

Florida Community Bank filed a lawsuit against the popular cosmetic dentist to the stars in Miami-Dade civil court this week for an assessed value of $870,000 over two Miami homes. The bank is seeking ownership of those two homes citing loan default.

Although there’s been no official word from Bravo, perhaps we will see all of this drama unfold on the third season of The Real Housewives of Miami.

The Miami Herald reports that the new season of the series may have a new look. Producers of the show have requested to use aerial drones, a small, unmanned flying device, to take overhead shots.

“They’re used in the same way traditional helicopters are used — to gain B-roll shots,” Cooper Green, the Vice President of the production company said. “This is not a part of everyday shooting.”

The same cameras have been used to film the Transformers movies, as well as Discovery Channel specials.

Could there be another Real Housewives wedding in the future? Nearly two years after her estranged husband, Russell Armstrong, committed suicide, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, Taylor Armstrong is ready to re-marry.

The mother of one told Life & Style Magazine that she and beau, attorney John Bluher couldn’t be happier together.

“We’ve talked about getting married,” Taylor revealed.

“We were friends and we had met through a mutual friend, so we would see each other at dinner parties and socialized. And then when Russell died, I was faced with so many different things.… Mutual friends called [John ] and said, ‘You gotta help Taylor,’” she told the mag.

Most importantly, John and Taylor’s 7-year-old daughter, Kennedy get along great. “He’s an amazing role model for Kennedy,” Taylor said.  “and such a great support system.”

The 23-year-old daughter of former Real Housewives of Orange County star Tammy Knickerbocker, Lindsey Kinickerbocker who was arrested back in December of 2012 has struck a plea deal, according to TMZ.

Lindsey was arrested after reportedly fleeing the scene after drunkenly hitting several parked cars and punching a police officer in the stomach.

The former reality star pleaded no contest to DUI, hit-and-run, and battery on an officer in court last month.

Lindsey was sentenced to 3 years probation, 129 hours of community service and a 9-month first offender alcohol program. Talk about getting off easy!

From Countess LuAnn de Lesseps’s Money Can’t Buy You Class to Melissa Gorga’s On Display, it seems like every-other Real Housewife has a song.

The latest Real Housewives single comes out of Atlanta, and after the infamous Watch What Happens: Live performance, Kenya Moore’s song Gone with the Wind Fabulous has become an instant hit.

Kenya and her production company have released a music video for the song and they make a dig at just about everyone in it! From RHOA co-star Porsha Stewart to Kenya’s ex Walter Jackson, there is nobody left unharmed!

Watch Kenya’s music video below and TWIRL your way to the comment section to give us your thoughts! What is your favorite Real Housewives song?
