2014 is looking bright for Bravo! The Real Housewives franchise has proven to be ratings gold for the network. The franchise broke record ratings last week with more than 4.5 million viewers tuning into The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
Riding on the coattails of RHOA’s success, the launch of Blood, Sweat & Heels ranked as a network best for a series premiere, with an average of 2.5 million viewers. Thicker Than Water also reached a series high with 2.3 million people tuning in.
With record breaking broadcasts, it is no wonder why some of the stars of The Real Housewives get to take home six and seven-figure paychecks.
According to Rolling Out, Atlanta’s NeNe Leakes is the highest paid housewife of the franchise. The site claims that the Athens, Georgia native rakes in over 1 million dollars per season.
Teresa Giudice earned the number two spot on the list of 2013’s Highest Paid Real Housewives. According to the article, Teresa earns $650,000 a season plus bonuses to appear on the highly televised Real Housewives of New Jersey. Teresa’s sister-in-law Melissa Gorga may be paid a little less than Teresa; however, I’m sure she can survive with a $350,000 pay-check.
Real Housewives veteran Vicki Gunvalson is also a top earner amongst the franchise’s women. Gunvalson earns significantly more than her co-stars on The Real Housewives of Orange County, raking in half-a-million bucks per season. Tamra Barney is the second highest paid Orange County housewife, cashing in a $350,000 pay-check per season.
These large-sum pay-checks may be the reason behind one former Atlanta housewife’s desire to return to the franchise. Despite the success of her Bravo spinoff series Don’t Be Tardy, Kim Zolciak confirmed recently that she is willing to return to The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
“Now that I’m done having babies, I can’t say that I wouldn’t go back,” former Real Housewives of Atlanta star and mother of six Kim Zolciak told InTouch Weekly. “For the most part, I enjoyed my time on the show.”
If she does return, Kim’s former co-stars claim they would welcome her back with open arms. “I’m not against Kim returning to ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’” current cast-member NeNe Leakes revealed on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.
Kim infamously left the series in the midst season five back in December 2012. “The fighting. The stress. The gossip. The drama. I reached my boiling point,” Zolciak wrote on her Bravo blog. Kim and her husband Kroy Biermann welcomed newborn twins to the world on November 25th of last year. Kim and Kroy have two other sons together—K.J. and Kash. Zolciak is also the mother to daughters Brielle and Ariana from previous relationships. Kroy legally adopted the two girls after he and Kim wed on November 11th, 2011.
The court date for Joe Giudice’s identity fraud charges has been postponed, yet again. The Real Housewives of New Jersey star could face up to ten years in prison after attempting to illegally obtain a New Jersey State driver’s license using his brother’s ID after his own was suspended for DWI.
The scheduled hearing was postponed because defense attorney Miles Feinstein is in the midst of jury selection for an unrelated trial. The next court date has yet to be determined.
Giudice’s unrelated federal bank-fraud and tax-evasion trial is scheduled to begin in April. If convicted of those charges, he and his wife Teresa could face up to 30 years behind bars.
Another grandson is on the way for Real Housewives of Orange County alum Vicki Gunvalson! Vicki’s daughter, Briana, is expecting her second child.
“I’m very excited our family is growing,” Vicki revealed to Bravo.
Vicki will be returning to The Real Housewives of Orange County for its upcoming ninth season. The new season will feature two new cast members: Elizabeth Rovsek and Shannon Beador. Longtime housewives Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino will not be returning to the series nor will season eight newcomer Lydia McLaughlin.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Jacqueline and Chris Laurita are bidding adieu to their luxurious Franklin Lakes home. The couple recently put their home on the market with an asking price of $2.85 million!
“They’re just looking for a change,” listing agent Gregory Earnshaw told E! News. Their home, which boasts six bedrooms, five full baths, a wine cellar, and a four-car heated garage, sits on 1.75 acres of land.
The highly anticipated premiere of the sixth season of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New York City is only a few weeks away! This season, viewers will not be seeing as much of their favorite Countess as they have in the past.
LuAnn de Lesseps will only be featured as a recurring cast member on the upcoming sixth season.
“It’s a win-win for me … I’m still on the show. I’m still very much a part of the show, but it’s not a fulltime thing. It’s very engulfing when you’re on it. It takes up all of your mental and physical energy,” LuAnn told E! News.
The Real Housewives of New York City will return with a new housewife, Kristen Taekman, on March 11th. Watch the season six trailer below!
