Andy Crawl 2014

So I embarked on my latest Andy Cohen crawl last weekend. He was in town doing signings of his newest book The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep look at a Shallow Year. I ordered the Kindle version months ago so I had already read it earlier in the week. (See The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Review).

The first signing was Sunday the 23rd of November at the Miami International Book Fair. At 10 am downtown on a Sunday morning. I had a friend’s 40th birthday party the night before, but I behaved so I was only slightly hungover. I took my aunt to this one because she also loves Andy. On a side note, this was my first time at the book fair and it was super cool. It was a street fair with books about everything and an entire kids’ area at Miami Dade College. The only drawback was the expensive parking, 20 dollars for the hour I was there. I didn’t have time to browse much but I’ll go again next year and check it out. They charge admission to the street fair but I made a donation the month before and got Friend of the Fair passes. This paid off (as well as making me feel like a Mensch*) We went to the auditorium and the line was already pretty long for the Q&A portion. The Friend of the Fair line, however, had 3 people in it. We got to go in first and sit directly in front of Andy. He came out, totally casual; Lacoste shirt, jeans, flip-flops. First thing he did was tell us about his night on the beach and admits he was a lil’ hungover. Yeah, him and me both.

People lined up, asked him questions, got hugs. Two women actually started CRYING when they asked their questions. Listen I love me some Andy Cohen, but he’s not The Beatles for god sakes. All in all he was adorable, as he always is, and made us laugh for a good forty minutes. We went to get in line for the signing which was outside and downstairs. The girl next to me and I had a plan to run down the back stairs and skip the escalator, I literally almost hopped over a wall. Oh whatever! At least I didn’t cry. At a book signing you always have to write your name on a post it, stuck to the page they’re signing. I wrote Mommyrou (Lesley). He looked at my book, looked at me and said, “Hi Lesley! You came to my show.” I died, really I did. We had a full five-minute conversation which included him asking me if I liked the book and I told him I loved it and that I wrote a review. To which he thanked me, like genuinely thanked me. This is what I love about him. He’s a real, approachable person. I gave him a gift bag of stuff for Wacha. He opened it right there. He signed my book and I told him I’d see him later at The Palm. He was so nice to me. He’s like the Davy Jones to my Marcia Brady, or the Susan Lucci to my Andy Cohen.

Part two: The Palm Restaurant, Bay Harbour islands.
The Palm in Bay Harbour is located 30 minutes from where I live, right over the bridge from The Shops at Bal Harbour. Too bad I was on borrowed time. Note to self, return soon. Darren and I checked in at The Palm which was a tickets only event. The tix were $35.00 and included a signed book, and lots of yummy hors d’oeuvres. We went to the bar first and got some drinks and then sat down towards the back. It was pretty full when we got there but it’s a small space so it felt cozy. I was on the end of the left side, the side Andy made his entrance from. He came out saw me and he smiled at me and grabbed my hand. Again, happy me! He did a similar Q&A and again was hilarious. I will tell you one thing, don’t hold your breath waiting for The Real Housewives of Miami to come back. He loves the cast it seems, but ratings were bad, etc. and he thinks it needs a major shakeup if it does. Right after he finished everyone got in line to take a pic with him. I gave him a silly gift and once again he was so sweet and gracious. He’s just a nice guy, no two ways about it. It was a gorgeous evening, we put the top down and stopped for sushi on the way home. Another successful meet up with Andy.

What’s cooking? According to The Daily Mail it’s a new Bravo cooking show starring Teresa Giudice. A Real Housewives of New Jersey “insider” reportedly told the publication that there is already a deal for the mother of 4 girls, and several New York Times bestselling cookbooks, to host her own cooking show while appearing part-time on the series that made her famous enough to write a cookbook in the first place.

“Teresa is, of course, devastated she has to spend even one day behind bars but she has already made this whole situation a money maker for her…Teresa and Bravo have been taking this time to plan a big media event when she is released from prison either late next year or early 2016.”

Teresa reports to a facility in Danbury, Connecticut to start serving her sentence on January 5th.

Will Jacqueline Laurita see Teresa before sentencing? According to what she told me at an event on November 19th, probably not.” The once besties have barely even spoken since the sentencing. “I texted her, she answered me, and that was it,” Jacqueline said when I asked her about the current status of their friendship. Kim Zolciak has 4 reasons to celebrate this week. On Monday twins Kaia and Kane Biermann turned one. Kim posted adorable pictures of the birthday twins on her social media and made the following statement:

“It seems like yesterday I told Dr. Hood I feel different this pregnancy I couldn’t stay awake. Seriously though and he did an ultrasound and BAAM 2 sacs!!! I couldn’t believe it!!!…although twins run high on my moms side I was still in shock! What a blessing!!”

The other two reasons she should celebrate, her impossibly thin waist which she is flaunting in selfies. She credits a cleanse from 310 Nutrition, but let’s not forget that she did  have a tummy tuck. As a mother of twins I can tell you that is a huge part of the formula (I had to do it too). She is quick to point out that plastic surgery isn’t a “cure all” and that she does work out (I will also agree that this is key). The fourth reason she should celebrate is that she’s gone a full year without being knocked up. Guess she should be kissing the feet of her plastic surgeon and Kroy‘s urologist. Ummm, it is a urologist that does the vasectomy…right? I’m not sure, what I am sure of is that Kim, those twins would only be inherited from your mother’s side. Twins on the father’s side are usually not genetic. It’s the female line that double ovulates. I’m also sure that you didn’t proofread that post (commas and apostrophes are our friends, my dear.)

Real Housewives of Orange County ‘s Vicki Gunvalson is no longer hiding her relationship with Brooks Ayers. Though the two have been off and on for quite a few years now, Vicki told US Weekly’s Brody Brown that not only have the two been exclusively dating again for the last year, but Brooks has moved into her home. Vicki’s daughter, Briana Culberson, who has been publicly against her mother’s relationship, hadn’t known that the two were together prior to the interview. However, this is the least of the couples’ problems.

Brooks, who has battled Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma since 2009, is once again facing the reality of having the disease. Brooks told Vicki earlier this fall that he was diagnosed with Stage 3 of the cancer. Vicki stated in the interview that cancer, “will either tear you apart as a couple or bring you together. And with us, without a doubt, it’s brought us together.”  Vicki also stated that her RHOC castmates have mostly been there for her all except for ex BFF Tamra Judge. “You know what, you really find out who your true friends are when things like this happen,” she said. Are you team Tamra or team Vicki? Tell us why below.

Jacqueline Laurita On Being Back, Coming Back, and Backing Herself Up

imageOn an unseasonably cold November night Jacqueline and Chris Laurita attended an event to learn more about healthy eating habits for children. The event (which we will revisit later on) addressed issues like gluten intolerance, which is very personal for the Lauritas since their son, Nicholas, must follow a gluten free diet. After the presentation I was lucky enough to catch up with Jacqueline and ask her some of the fans’ burning questions like if she’s coming back to Real Housewives of New Jersey for season 7 (see her answer below). I was also lucky enough to have the Lauritas walk me back to my car post event. What can I say, it was dark, I was alone, and I’m terribly neurotic. Thank you Jac and Chris for looking out for me! Happy Thanksgiving!

TBB:Why did you come back to The Real Housewives of New Jersey?

JL: I came back because I actually never left (laughs). I had asked to go part-time because I’m working on a lot of other things right now and the stress from the show got to be a little much with trying to do everything I wanted to get done. So I needed a break from the show and they offered that. I said I would do part-time but then I was told my sister-in-law (Dina Manzo) wouldn’t come on full-time if I was part-time. So I said fine. I guess it was in March they wanted me to come back in so I said ok because it’s good money, I was done filming for Manzo’d (With Children) so I felt , “I’ll do it, why not?”

TBB: Did you miss (RHONJ) during the break?

JL: No! (laughs) I didn’t miss it. It was very nice having a break, I enjoyed the break, but part-time to me is very manageable and it’s not as stressful. Once you’ve been away from it for a little while you get this temporary amnesia where you forget why you were stressed out.

TBB: Kind of like when you forget what childbirth is like and you have another baby?

JL: EXACTLY! That’s exactly what it’s like!

TBB: Any desire to come back full-time?

JL: There has been talk about me coming back full-time and I’m still considering it. I would like to do another season of Manzo’d, but I am considering either full-time or part-time (for Housewives). I really haven’t decided. I think the network also is still deciding in what direction the show is going.

TBB: I have to ask about your behavior on Twitter. You really, really went after (Dina) a few weeks ago when part one of the RHONJ Reunion aired. It was the first time anything about the family feud had been spoken about publicly. Do you regret that?

JL: You know if I’m feeling something I say it and I stayed quiet for a very long time, but when I saw that my husband, my son, and I were being talked about, and Dina was telling her version of the story, I had to speak up. So that’s why I (did it). Twitter is my place, that’s where if I feel like saying something I say it and I don’t care who likes it or not. So I was basically just responding to things that were said and I wanted to get my side out there.

You know, I am ALWAYS open to reconciliation with ANYBODY, including Dina. We have tried so many times to make things good with her that it just became frustrating. We tried to get together before Lexi’s graduation to talk, but they weren’t open to that, so we did offer to take Lexi to dinner privately to celebrate her graduation and never got a response. That’s why I responded the way I did to what Dina said at the reunion. I don’t hate Dina, I’m just frustrated with Dina.

TBB: Will you see Teresa (Giudice) before she goes to her sentencing?

JL: I doubt it.

TBB: Have you spoken to her?

JL: I texted her, she answered me, and that was it.

So there you have it folks! No final decisions yet on whether Jac will be back. What are your thoughts? Do you want to see Jacqueline and her family return to RHONJ for Season 7?
