Reality Roundup

NeNe Leakes was served an extra helping of thanks this past week. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star was able to celebrate Thanksgiving with her family this year after being released from the hospital where she was being treated for blood clots.

“After some routine tests I was diagnosed with blood clots in my lung,” NeNe wrote on her website. “I’m told this happened to me because of the constant traveling around the country that I do for my job.”

“I’m thankful to be alive as the doctor advised me that most people don’t recognize the symptoms of blood clots and don’t go to the doctor and that’s when the big problems start happening,” she reported.

The future doesn’t look so bright for the stars of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

The fourth season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills debuted to disappointing ratings as BravoRatings reports that only a mere 1,592,000 people tuned in for the season four premiere— a major decrease in viewership compared to the season two premiere which pulled in over 2,183,000 viewers.

“The show does not have the same level of drama that it did with the original cast members Camille (Grammar), Adrienne (Maloof) and Taylor (Armstrong),” a production source told  RadarOnline. “But it also doesn’t have the Beverly Hills factor, either. That peek into the lifestyles of the rich and famous that was such a guilty pleasure during seasons one and two.”

According to TV by the Numbers, The Real Housewives of Miami, which recently wrapped its third season, suffered from a ratings decline as well. The season premiered with 1.35 million views and dipped under one million for seven of the sixteen episodes.

Both franchises are dwarfed by the ratings powerhouse The Real Housewives of Atlanta—which currently averages over 3.2 million viewers per episode and has shown a steady increase in viewership season after season.

Despite the reports that Gretchen Rossi was canned from The Real Housewives of Orange County, ChristyReports claims that Gretchen and fiancée Slade Smiley were being followed by a camera crew at a recent charity event.

“They [the camera crew] followed her around all night and I noticed one of them had on a badge that said Marriage Bootcamp,” the website insider reported. “It’s a WEtv spin-off of Bridezillas.”

Production for season nine of The Real Housewives of Orange County is already underway. In fact, a recent tweet from Tamra Barney reveals that she, Vicki Gunvalson, and Heather Dubrow have already started filming— which included taking a girls trip to Hawaii.

Joe Giudice’s rap sheet continues to expand. According to a report obtained by the Montville Patch, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star was pulled over, again, for driving without an inspection sticker on his vehicle. Joe was also ticketed for not having a valid insurance card.

Earlier this month, Joe was cited by police for careless driving in a school zone.

Joe, who has a long history of driver’s license suspensions, is currently awaiting trial for a separate driving incident after allegedly impersonating his brother, Pete Giudice, to illegally obtain a driver’s license after his own was suspended for a DWI.

The Department of Motor Vehicles confirmed to The Star-Ledger that Giudice’s license has been suspended 47 times since he received it in 1987.

The anticipation for season six of The Real Housewives of New Jersey is high as the production team is rushing to capture all the drama surrounding Teresa and Joe Giudice’s legal troubles. The couple face a federal trial in February.

Congratulations to Kim Zolciak and her husband, NFL player Kroy Biermann, who welcomed twins this past week.

“Guess what?!!! The twins have arrived!” the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star wrote on Instagram. “We welcomed first a baby girl and second a handsome little boy. They are both healthy and Kroy and I are so thankful!!”

Their daughter’s name is Kaia Rose, who was named in honor of  Kim’s psychic, Rose, who has been featured throughout Kim’s tenure on RHOA. Their son’s name is Kane Ren, who was named in honor of her OB-GYN, who delivered five of her six children.

Kim and Kroy additionally have two sons together, Kroy Jr., 2, and Kash, 15 months. Biermann also recently adopted Zolciak’s two daughters, Brielle and Ariana from previous relationships.

Each week we will rummage through the Bravo vault to find vintage photos from the past, revisit a classic moment from one of our favorite shows, or update the status of a past Real Housewives cast-member! Recently, we featured an update on the former Real Housewives of New York City star Alex McCord and her husband Simon van Kempen.

This week, we will revisit a classic Real Housewives moment and find out what one former Real Housewives of D.C. star has been up to since the series cancellation.

It became national headlining news when two cast members of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of D.C. crashed the White House State Dinner in 2009.

Tareq and Michaele Salahi made a splash in the headlines when they attended an elite White House party—without invites.  Facebook photos of the couple posing with Vice President Joe Biden indicate that the couple had up-close access to some of Washington’s most powerful successors, without actually being on the guest list.

Real Housewives producers revealed they had been filming with the Salahis for RHODC prior to the event and were told by the couple that they were invited. Despite the couples claim, they later plead the fifth during a federal security investigation.

After numerous legal battles, the couple split  in 2012. Michaele then ran off with Journey guitarist Neal Schon and the two have been an item ever since. Michaele and Neal are currently engaged and busy planning their upcoming wedding.

If you have yet to receive your invitation for the nuptials, don’t fret! According to ABC News, the former reality star is broadcasting her wedding via a Pay-Per-View television special—for only $14.95 you can be added to the virtual guest list and avoid federal investigations!

The upcoming December 15th broadcast entitled Neal & Michaele: The Winter Wonderland Wedding and Music Event will be hosted by The View’s Debbie Matenopoulos and All My Children’s Cameron Mathison and will feature live performances by the groom’s band, Journey.

Once again  I will be subbing for guru of gossip Brent Osborne. He’s filled me in on the juiciest stories this week, plus I’ve got some nuggets I’ve got to toss in as well. So without further ado let’s get started, and remember, if you join in the conversation you could win a gift card from this month’s Housewife Hot Item sponsor Wrapadoo!

Our first stop this week is in my own backyard with the Real Housewives of New Jersey. Though their fans may think otherwise, former prosecutor and legal news commentator Nancy Grace says that Teresa and Joe Giudice are “going down.” These were the exact words she used to describe her prediction of their fate when a caller on a recent episode of Watch What Happens Live asked her to weigh in on the couple’s 39 fraud count indictment.

“I think they were in it together and you know what? You can get away with shoplifting, maybe stealing a car, but don’t mess with the feds when it comes to money. Never mess with the tax man. Never mess with the feds, alright? They have no mercy.”

Grace went on to compare the two to Martha Stewart saying that the Giudices will be “used as an example to other people.”

A source very close to Teresa disagrees. “She didn’t know what she was signing,” the good friend of the 41 year-old Housewives star told me when the story first broke over the summer. “She was busy having babies and shopping, she had no idea what she was signing. When you are in a marriage and trust your partner you don’t always read what they put in front of you.”

Teresa recently broke her silence regarding her legal troubles in an exclusive interview with In Touch Weekly. “Look – every family has problems. Nobody’s perfect. I have to be strong for my kids…especially Gia – she’s the only one who knows anything is going on, so I do everything I can to make her feel comfortable.”

The Giudices are set to stand trial on February 24th.

Things are certainly a lot more cheery over at the Manz-sion. A new show Manzo’d With Children isn’t the only new endeavor for the reality star family. On the heels of the success of their Hoboken, NJ restaurant Little Town NJ brothers Albie and Chris Manzo are opening their next restaurant and soon!

Along with their Little Town partners (Michael Sinensky and Sean McGarr of Funbars.com) US Weekly reported that the duo will be opening a “Vegas style” sports bar at Meadowlands Racing and Entertainment as early as November 23d.  The venue, to be called Victory Sports Bar and Club, will include both private party event space and a weekly night club. They will follow that up with Victory Terrace, a rooftop establishment in April.

These Manzo kids are making their momma proud! Manzo matriarch Caroline tweeted on Thursday.

Last Saturday I was at Little Town and apparently missed the elder Manzo offspring by an hour. “I’m on my way back from city,” Albie texted me via Twitter direct message. Perhaps the ambitious 27 year-old was at a business meeting with the NYC based Sinensky and McGarr. Keep coming back to TBB for my thoughts on Little Town and a special RHONJ surprise coming soon!

Jetting acrosse the country there’s some fresh squeezed OJ coming from The Real Housewives of Orange County. After only once season OC newbie Lydia McLaughlin is saying sayonara. According to an article in US Weekly the decision was McLaughlin’s. She says she was asked back but…”never wanted to make a career out of being a Housewife…I want to build my brand outside of the Housewives…I’ve always been really honest with the producers about that. I knew that while I was filming it and that I probably wasn’t going to be doing it again.”

McLaughlin will now be remembered as another one season Housewife wonder like Peggy Tanous also of RHOC and RHONY Cindy Barshop. McLaughlin takes with her; 2 children, a holy rolling marriage, and a pot smoking bunny loving mother. Oh and also Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino who reportedly were not asked back.

Lydia’s co-star and veteran HW Tamra Judge recently fired her PR rep, according to an insider. Apparently the newlywed has been shopping around a book without much success and is pointing her well manicured finger at Illumination PR who had been handling her. However, our source told us exclusively that they had seen Tamra’s book proposal and that it frankly “isn’t that good.”

Judge is not the first Housewife to have been represented by Illumination. The firm at one time handled Melissa Gorga who also moved on to a different rep.

Vicki Gunvalson is going to have to talk to the judge, and we don’t mean her OC castmate. Legal drama continues with her former Vicki’s Vodka partner Robert Williamson. Williamson who sued Vicki for fraud originally has had the tables turned on him. Radar Online reports that Vicki’s attorneys are looking to have the trial moved to federal court. Vicki claims that Williamson tried to “frame, expose, or blackmail” her and that Williamson engages in illicit conduct like running an unlicensed gambling venture.

Last week was a huge premiere week for Bravo TV and one of its home run shows already has a major strike out. Shahs of Sunset premiered on Tuesday and though Season 2’s premiere attracted over two million viewers, the Season 3 premiere brought in less than 1.2 million leaving us to wonder where half the audience went. Also premiered last week was The Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and Vanderpump Rules.

RHOA returned with its Season 5 cast in tact, while RHOBH boasts two new ladies Carton Gebbia and Joyce Giraud. Last season Adrienne Maloof made her exit mid season while Taylor Armstrong and Camille Grammar stepped down to smaller roles and are rumored to not appear this season at all.
