Reality Roundup: Bookgate in NY, Braceletgate in NJ, and Birthdaygate in Miami

RHONY in NJ, Carole Radziwill reads from her new novel.

RHONY in NJ, Carole Radziwill reads from her new novel.

Housewife Guy has the weekend off, but gossip never takes a vacay! This week was no exception, with some of the juiciest stories in TBB‘s very own backyard. The Real Housewives of New York City are on the air and at each other’s Chanel necklaced throats. Bravo is heavily promoting the feud du jour between Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher. The debacle even has its own hashtag #Bookgate. The ghostwriter finger pointing hit new heights, however, when Drescher called into Vh1‘s Gossip Table  Tuesday morning.

Drescher told the panel about the “epic fight” saying, “one of us admits to having a lot of help and one doesn’t” in reference to Drescher’s memoir Leggy Blonde, and Radziwill’s What Remains and The Widow’s Guide to Sex and Dating, a memoir and fictional novel respectively.

“I had a lot of help on my book,” Drescher said. But she dropped a bomb when GT host Rob Shuter asked if there’s any possibility of Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin returning to the show. “I heard they are going to replace Heather (Thomson) and Carole. Heather and Carole are trying to be like Ramona (Singer) and Sonja (Morgan) NOT…I heard that Jill and Bethenny might come back and boot them off the show.”

While Drescher was spreading rumors this week, Radziwill was spreading the word about her first foray into fiction. The longtime journalist and widow of Jackie Kennedy Onassis’s nephew Anthony Radziwill, who succumbed to cancer in 1999, was busy visiting bookstores and reading excerpts from Widow’s Guide and autographing copies for her readers. I caught her at Bookends in Ridgewood, NJ near her childhood home of Suffern, NY along with her parents and sister. When asked about the Jill/Bethenny comment, which Andy Cohen squashed on Radziwill’s Tuesday appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Radziwill said that Drescher was probably just listening to, “the voices in her head.” She also said that she never meant to offend stay at home moms with the comment she said to Aviva in Tuesday’s episode.

So did Radziwill have any help writing either of her books? She does admit to one surprising source of advice. “Christiane Amanpour, a very old friend of mine and my husband’s (when I first started dating) said; ‘You should keep a journal and you should call it the Widow’s Guide to Sex and Dating. She actually says she didn’t say sex but I’m pretty sure she did say ‘sex and dating’…I didn’t keep a journal but I kept the title. She always likes to be credited.”

Personally, knowing Aviva and listening to her call on GT I think it was just her kooky sense of humor. Her tone, to me sounds very jocular. Below is a link to the clip. What do you all think?

The Real Housewives of New Jersey may be off air for a moment, but it doesn’t mean they are off our radar. RHONJ and now convicted tax felon Teresa Giudice won’t let her legal woes get her down. The mother of four daughters, and cookbooks, made an appearance at Kim D’s Posche spring fashion show on Wednesday night, but you had to pay a price for a moment with the queen of the table flip. Apparently Giudice was with a handler who let people know they had to purchase a 25 dollar book to get an autograph and picture with the reality star. This was in addition to the $110 ticket to attend the dinner. Another caveat, the fans had to pay Teresa in cash. Considering these days anyone can accept credit cards with an iPhone it seems to me Tre wants to hide some income for fear of the government garnishing her wages.

Is a Jerseylicious star ripping off the RHONJ’s niece? According to Candice Laurita; niece of Caroline Manzo and Dina Manzo, and Jacqueline Laurita; Tracy DiMarco has been knocking off her accessory business, Dazzle Candy for months.

“When I was told about this I literally felt sick,” Laurita told TBB, “The designs are so similar that it’s impossible to be a coincidence so many times over. When things like this happen it’s always really upsetting, but to have it come from someone with such a large reality TV following, it is that much more devastating to my business that I worked so hard to build.”

This is not the first case of jewelry knock off drama in New Jersey. Last month we reported that Kim D had been accused of stealing her cuff designs from another designer. Laurita is currently awaiting a response from DiMarco but supplied the following pictures from Dazzle Candy and DiMarco’s Princess Armor websites. What do you think?

Speaking of the Manzos their fanzos may have to wait a little while before they get to see the famous reality tv star family return to the air. A source told us they are having some issues with the production of their spinoff Manzo’d With Children. “They really want it to be real,” the source who by the way was NOT Candice, told us. “They are trying to exert some control over the editing. They don’t want their show overproduced.” Three cheers for Caro and the crew for trying to keep it real!

Let’s leave the Northeast for some fairer weather Housewife scoop. Perez Hilton reports that Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Williams has a new man. According to Hilton’s site Williams is dating 42 year old Teodoro Nguema Obiang son of Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, dictator, er president, of Equatorial Guinea. Mbasogo is “considered one of the most brutal rulers in Africa.” RHOA fans have been side eyeing the newly divorced Williams’s luxurious lifestyle all season, but this relationship would certainly explain how it’s been funded as the family of Obiang has some serious oil wealth, allegedly pillaged off the backs of their population. Williams was married to NFL player Kordell Stewart whose sexuality has been questioned all season long by her and her cast mates. As Millionaire Matchmaker Patti Stanger would say, it seems like Porsha’s picker is off!

South of Atlanta the ladies of Real Housewives of Miami as well as others, Countess LuAnn DeLesseps , gathered to celebrate Marysol Patton‘s birthday. The odd thing, Patton’s birthday was in January. The daughter of the free spirited Mama Elsa is a Capricorn, as she’s tweeted me about our shared birth sign before. A source who attended the event said the party, “was just going to be (a restaurant opening) but restaurant owners wanted to do a belated birthday bash for her.” Restaurant owners? Sounds more like producers to me. Could RHOM be filming another season? Does Marysol have a pilot for another show? Hmmm sounds fishy to me. Patton’s true birthday is January 9th.

Reality Roundup: The Best of 2013

Porsha and Kordell Stewart (Source: Paras Griffin/Landov)

From legal turmoil to marital bliss, it’s been another crazy year for Bravo’s Real Housewives. That Housewife Guy runs down 5 of the juiciest headlines of 2013.

 5. Porsha Stewart BLINDSIDED by Husband’s Divorce Filing

Although it was not necessarily a shock to viewers of The Real Housewives of AtlantaPorsha Stewart claimed she was completely blindsided when her ex-husband Kordell Stewart filed for divorce back in March.

After less than two years of marriage, Kordell called it quits and filed divorce papers in Fulton County Superior Court in Georgia on March 22nd, saying that his marriage to Porsha was “irretrievably broken.”

The Atlanta housewife can finally move forward with the next chapter of her life as her divorce from Kordell was finalized earlier this month.

On this Sunday’s episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Porsha has a dramatic breakdown over her divorce.

“As much as I want to get over Kordell, being around these different women talking about children and babies, it just made me think about the family that I wanted and the family that we shared,” Porsha says.

In the preview, Atlanta co-star NeNe Leakes tried to comfort Porsha. “I’ve tried to be there to support Porsha, but our relationship is very one-sided. It’s very frustrating,” NeNe reveals.

Watch NeNe dish out some advice in the video preview here.

4. NeNe Leakes Re-Marries Ex-Husband Gregg Leakes

Second time’s the charm for NeNe and Gregg Leakes. The couple officially became man and wife again in 2013. Before divorcing in 2011, the two were married for 13 years. The pair reconciled in 2012 and NeNe announced their second engagement via Twitter last New Year’s Eve.

Nene and Gregg said their “I Dos” for the second time in front of 400+ guests and Bravo cameras in Atlanta, Georgia this past summer at the InterContinental Buckhead Hotel. The duo spared no expense for their “Old Hollywood” themed wedding—the lavish event boasted a whopping $1.8 million price tag.

NeNe’s reconciliation with Gregg and her journey to the altar were documented on her own spinoff series, I Dream of NeNe: The Wedding.

NeNe was the third Atlanta housewife to earn an official spin-off series this past year. Kim Zolciak’s wedding/married life spinoff, Don’t Be Tardy and Kandi Burruss music competition series, The Kandi Factory debuted on Bravo earlier in 2013.

After getting divorced in 2011, NeNe says that this time she and Gregg will last. “Both of us want this, so it will definitely work this time,” NeNe told Life & Style“I know exactly what I’m getting myself into.”

3. The Real Housewives of New Jersey Manzo Swap

Whether you love her or hate her, Caroline Manzo will not be returning to The Real Housewives of New Jersey next season. From the “Ham Game” to her biting wit, the RHONJ star has made her mark over the past 5 seasons.

Despite the fun-times Caroline has had on the show, she says it was time to move on. “Over the past few years my outlook on the show has changed from something I couldn’t wait to show my future grandchildren to something I hope my future grandchildren never see,” Manzo wrote on her Bravo blog.

“I’ve always prided myself on being a good example for my children and my decision to leave is based on advice I’ve always given them: ‘Be true to yourself and be proud of who you are, you are born with a name and you die with a name, don’t dirty it up.’ Going back to film another season of Housewives would only make me a hypocrite. For me, peace and integrity cannot be bought with money or fame.”

Fans of the family matriarch will not have to say their goodbyes just yet. Caroline and her family are wrapping production on their pilot spin-off series for BravoManzo’d With Children.

Alert the welcome wagon—former Real Housewives of New Jersey star Dina Manzo is back for another run! Marked by the departure of her sister Caroline Manzo, original cast member Dina Manzo will be returning to the series next season.

“Well I guess the (hairless) cats out of the bag,” Dina tweeted back in October of this year. “Yes I’m back. Unlike the past this time it felt ‘right’ … See you on Bravo my friends.”

Dina left the show during season two after a feud with her then co-star Danielle Staub. She then went on to host an event planning reality show on HGTV titled Dina’s Party.

After three years of feuding, the Manzo sisters have reconciled. In an exclusive interview with In Touch, Dina reveals she and Caroline are “totally fine,” adding that anger has been replaced by civility.

“When we see each other, we kiss each other hello,” Dina told the mag this week. “We just don’t hang out for Sunday dinner, that’s all…If Caroline needed me and called me tomorrow, I would be there. I love my sister. I will always love her.”

However a source, who wishes to remain anonymous, has told us that a reconciliation between the two has NOT happened. Reading between the lines of Dina’s statement I’d say our source is on the money!

2. Bethenny and Jason Call it Quits

It may sound like old news, but it has only been one year since the former Real Housewives of New York City star Bethenny Frankel called it quits on her marriage to Jason Hoppy. After months of speculation about the state of their marriage, Bethenny announced that she and Jason were separating.

“It brings me great sadness to say that Jason and I are separating,” Frankel said in a statement. “This was an extremely difficult decision that as a woman and a mother, I have to accept as the best choice for our family.”

The couple announced their split back in December 2012 and filings were made in January of 2013. The two have been dealing with ongoing highly publicized divorce settlement issues, including custody disputes over their 3-year-old daughter Brynn, ever since.

The Skinnygirl mogul met her soon-to-be ex-husband in late 2008 and they tied the knot less than less two years later. The duo wed on March 28th, 2010 in front of Bravo cameras at New York’s iconic Four Seasons Hotel. Their nuptials were featured on Bethenny’s first Real Housewives spinoff show, Bethenny Getting Married.

Since the split, Bethenny has been busy filming her self-titled day-time talk show, Bethenny.

1. Not So Fabulicious—Teresa and Joe’s Legal Turmoil

It is no secret that the stars of Bravo‘s Real Housewives franchise have their fair share of financial woes. This time around, The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars Teresa and Joe Giudice have caught themselves in financial peril, again.

Teresa and Joe were indicted this past summer on 39-counts of federal fraud and tax charges that, according to legal experts, may cause them both to serve time in federal prison. The indictment details charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications, and bankruptcy fraud, against the couple from Towaco, N.J.

The 33-page indictment document accuses Joe Giudice of failing to file tax returns for 2004 through 2008 and states that Joe and Teresa falsely informed lenders on loan application that they were employed and/or receiving substantial salaries when in fact, they were not.

The couple pled not guilty to the charges; however, if convicted Teresa and Joe could each face decades behind bars. Joe even faces being deported to Italy if he is found guilty of just one of the 39 counts in the indictment, prosecutors said — as it emerged recently that he is not a US citizen.

Added to that, Juicy Joe is currently awaiting trial for allegedly impersonating his brother, Pete Giudice, to illegally obtain a driver’s license after his own was suspended for a DWI. He can face up to 10 years in prison for those charges. Joe’s rap sheet continued to expand this year after being pulled over twice in one month.

In November, Joe was cited by police for careless driving in a school zone. He was also ticketed for driving without an inspection sticker on his vehicle and not having a valid insurance card.

The couple opened up about their legal woes on a special episode of Watch What Happens Live back in September. Host Andy Cohen sat down with the reality television stars to discuss their indictment and how they are managing to keep their lives together.

During the sit down, an emotional Teresa said she is trying to stay strong for their children. “I can’t fall apart, Andy. I have my daughters, they mean the world to me … maybe something that my daughters can learn from this is that my mom was really strong through all of this and was there for us and I hope they always have that with them,” Teresa said wiping away tears.

Catch a clip below:

The couple’s federal fraud trial, originally scheduled for February, will now take place in April of 2014.

Get your meatballs and leopard print handcuffs ready! The stars of Bravo’s The Real Housewives of New Jersey have reportedly started filming for season six of the series.

“The first day of filming for everyone was this Tuesday!” a source revealed to AllAboutTRH.

While the complete season six cast has yet to be confirmed, rumor has it that Jacqueline Laurita will not be returning to the series. Both Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice are expected to be retuning while Kathy Wakile takes  a back seat to the other women next season.

Marked by the departure of her sister Caroline Manzo, original cast member Dina Manzo will be returning to the series this season. Producers will also be adding three new housewives to the mix—twins  Nicole and Teresa Napolitano and their friend, Amber Marchese.

In a recent interview with In Touch, Dina reveals that after three years she and her sister Caroline have reconciled, saying she and Caroline are “totally fine.”

“When we see each other, we kiss each other hello. We just don’t hang out for Sunday dinner, that’s all,” she said.

“I will be at Lauren‘s wedding,” Dina told In Touch. “If Caroline needed me and called me tomorrow, I would be there. I love my sister. I will always love her.”

Despite the alleged reconciliation, an insider revealed to TBBReality that the story is completely false. Could Dina just be pulling a good PR stunt?

For more RHONJ news tune into TBB Monday for a new TBBonTV special with designer Lindsey Andrews as she talks about the dress Caroline wore on the reunion, gives us a tour of her new Hoboken NJ apartment, and answers the question we are all asking!

The anticipation for season six of The Real Housewives of New Jersey is high as the production team is rushing to capture all the drama surrounding Teresa and Joe Giudice’s legal troubles. The couple faces a federal trial in February.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Porsha Stewart is single and ready to mingle, legally.

E! News reports that Porsha and Kordell Stewart are officially divorced. “Kordell wishes to thank his family, friends and fans for their loving support and encouragement during these difficult days. He is grateful and thankful for your continued prayers for him and his family,” Kordell’s attorney said in a statement.

“Today is the 1st Day of the rest of my LIFE” #blessed #lovinglife #favored #free,” Porsha posted on Instagram this week.

Kordell filed for divorce back in March claiming that their marriage was “irretrievably broken.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County welcomed a new suntanned star to the season nine cast last week.

According to Tamra Barney, Shannon Beador is the latest  addition to the RHOC cast. Tamra broke the news via Facebook and Instagram after posting a photo of the two together with friends at the USC-UCLA football game this past weekend.

“Excited to be going to the game tomorrow with Shannon & David (new housewife) can’t wait to see you…,” Tamra wrote on her Facebook page.

The Facebook post and Instagram photos with Shannon have since been deleted.

Production for the ninth season of the show is currently underway and although the season nine cast has yet to be confirmed by Bravo, rumor has it that both Alexis Bellino and Gretchen Rossi have been given a pink slip by the network.

Vicki Gunvalson, Heather Dubrow, and Tamra will all be returning whereas Lydia McLaughlin announced her departure for the series last month after only one season.

Season nine of the hit reality show is set to premiere in early 2014.

Real Housewives of Atlanta favorite and Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter Kandi Burruss is about to add off-Broadway actress to her resume!

Kandi will be joining the cast of the off-Broadway comedy NEWSical the Musical from January 13 through January 26, 2014.

The play sets all of today’s top pop culture headlines to music, including news about Honey Boo Boo, Paula Deen, and Andrew Weiner. Good luck, Kandi!

After a spell of dreadful ratings, over 1.9 million people tuned in to Bravo’s The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this week—a positive increase in viewership for this season.

The current fourth season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills debuted to disappointing ratings last month as BravoRatings reports that only a mere 1,592,000 people tuned in for the season four premiere— a major decrease in viewership compared to the season two premiere which pulled in over 2,183,000 viewers.

Thursday night marked the long-awaited return of the newly revamped reality series, Mob Wives: New Blood. With two new faces and the returning ones of Renee Graziano, Drita D’Avanzo, and “Big Ang“, this season is certainly going to be full of drama!

The entire cast, including new girls Alicia DiMichele and Natalie Guercio, gathered at Greenhouse in New York City Thursday night to kick off the season.  To no avail, the party ended in a scuffle.

TMZ reports that it all started when Natalie’s boyfriend got into a verbal argument with another partygoer. The situation quickly escalated and more than ten people got in on the action. TMZ’s sources revealed that bottles were being thrown and one partygoer may have suffered a broken ankle. In fact, it was confirmed that one person was transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Just one day after newbie Alicia DiMichele made her reality television debut, she attended the sentencing hearing for her husband Edward (Tall Guy) Garofalo, Jr., in Brooklyn Federal Court.

A Federal Judge sentenced the mobster to seven years in prison for murder conspiracy, extortion and witness tampering. Alicia herself is facing a potential prison sentence.

Each week we will rummage through the Bravo vault to find vintage photos from the past, revisit a classic moment from one of our favorite shows, or update the status of a past Real Housewives cast-member! Last week, we revisited an event that made national headlines involving the former Real Housewives of D.C. star Michaele Salahi. This week, we will discuss one of the most infamous feuds in Real Housewives history.

The ongoing feud between former BFF’s Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin escalated during their stints on The Real Housewives of New York City. Although The Real Housewives of New York City is a distant memory for both Frankel and Zarin, the two have yet to reconcile.

Bethenny, in an attempt to bury the glittered hatchet or was it to save her ratings, recently invited Jill to be a guest on her new talk show; however, Jill rudely declined.  Current Real Housewives of New York City star Countess LuAnn de Lesseps  visited Bethenny’s studio last month and as part of their discussion on moving on, Bethenny and LuAnn de Lesseps revisited the infamous feud between Bethenny and Jill.
