Caroline Manzo…The Next Chapter

She may no longer hold the title of Real Housewife, but Caroline Manzo is holding her head very high these days. Well rested since completing her final season on RHONJ over a year ago, she has been spending lots of time with her family and being “normal”. Now preparing for her reality television return in a new, self titled series, she’s ready to bring the light hearted laughter back to Bravo. I caught up with Caroline at the annual Spring Sparkle shopping event.

TBB: The Manzo’d With Children pilot is complete and you are about to start production on the real McCoy…

CM: Yes, the real McCoy! Eight episodes which we will start filming in about 2 weeks. I don’t know how long the process will take, maybe 8 or 9 weeks.

TBB: How do you think this will compare to filming Housewives?

CM: It’s a completely different animal. It’s a half hour (show), it’s light hearted. There will be dilemmas and stuff but not the crazy drama that Housewives was. It kind of just spotlights the way we live our life in our house.

TBB: I know your mother, Nettie Laurita, she’s a very creative , very interesting and inspiring woman. Will she be on the show at all?

CM: I don’t know. We only have 8 episodes and they will be following our lives, so I don’t know what’s going to make it on. There’s so much going on with me and Al, and the three kids (Albie, Lauren, and Christopher) and then there’s the extended family, Vito (Scalia), and my sister Fran (Laurita) who’s also on the show. That’s a lot to pack into 8 episodes in a half hour, really only 22 minutes when you count the commercials!

TBB: How are the plans for Lauren and Vito’s wedding coming along?

CM: We’re taking out time. She’s got a year left as she’s getting married next summer. We have the venue, obviously The Brownstone, and we have the church and the band booked. Probably July or August we’ll start wedding gown shopping. Then I’m just going to sit back and relax! The hardest part I don’t even have to worry about. I’m just going to show up at The Brownstone and I’m sure everything will be fine!

TBB: What has it been like knowing the The Real Housewives of New Jersey is taping and you are no longer a part of it, after you were for so many seasons from the very beginning of the series? Do you miss it at all?

CM: It was funny, my husband and my kids said to me, “We got your back,” because it takes a toll on you. I am just happy and relaxed enjoying time with Al and the kids. I’ve been playing tennis, and getting back in the gym, and cooking dinner. I’m just being normal. Not one single second did I think about it, not one moment did I miss it. I wish them all well, obviously. My time was done, I knew when it was time to go and I opted out.

TBB: Have you heard anything about the filming of Season 7?

CM: I know nothing, I know absolutely nothing. If I see any of the ladies I don’t ask about it. When something is in my past, it’s in my past. I had nothing left to give, I didn’t see eye to eye with a lot of the way things were going, so why would I go back and ask questions and wonder how filming was going? I would have stayed on otherwise. So, I left for a reason and I’m happy.

TBB: What was your initial reaction when you found out that your sister Dina (Manzo) was rejoining the cast of Housewives?

CM: It’s her choice and I’m not going to say more than that.

TBB: Are we going to see a revival of the Ham Game?

CM: I hope not! Those kids you know what, they don’t stop! I love them to death! They keep me young, they keep me laughing all the time, you know, Ham Game, who knows! If it’s not Ham Game, leave it to Christopher to think of something else I’m sure!

TBB: How’s Jacqueline doing?

CM: Jacqueline’s doing great! Nick is in therapy, we’re all hands in on that. It’s 1 step forward, 100 steps back, but I’ve always said, “If love can cure, he’ll be fine.”

TBB: Will we see Chris and Jac on (Manzo’d With Children)?

CM: I hope so, they are a very big part of my life. Again, it’s only 8 episodes and when you’ve got a family as big as mine…My house is like the hub, mine and Chris’s house are where everything all happens. But again, it’s like the Housewives, they film thousands of hours and you just never know what’s going to make it.

TBB: What do you hope viewers get out of Manzo’d With Children?

CM: I want them to smile. I want them to laugh and I want them to smile because that’s what life’s about!

Reality Roundup: Housewife Wedding Bells, and Baby Bump Swells

Last weekend two Housewives tied the knot. Real Housewives of Atlanta Kandi Burruss, married TV producer boyfriend  Todd Tucker on April 4th. Burruss’s storyline has revolved a lot around her mother Joyce‘s lukewarm feelings toward Tucker, but it seems like all went well for the big day. The 37 year old singer/songwriter was thrilled telling In Touch, “This is one of the best days of my life. I never imagined that I would marry my best friend. Todd’s been that to me.” Earlier this year Burruss and her mother appeared together on the Bethenny show to tell the world they have made peace regarding the relationship. Burruss has one daughter, Riley, 11, who she brings to the union.

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Taylor Armstrong also married last weekend. Taylor whose former husband Russell committed suicide in 2011 after she filed for divorce, has an 8 year old daughter Kennedy. Taylor appeared on VH1’s Couples Therapy with new husband John Bluher. On the show Bluher had told Armstrong of his plans to adopt Kennedy to which she replied,“There could be no better father for (her)”. According to Radar Online, the lavish affair, which took place at the Pacific Palisades, CA Bel Air Bay Club cost the Bluher’s nada. The entire wedding and reception tab was picked up by WETV’s My Fair Wedding. Seems, even though she’s no longer a Housewife, Taylor just can’t keep off of Reality TV.

Last week, Joanna Krupa took to Instagram and Twitter to put to rest some long time rumors that have been swirling around.  “The rumors that I wanted to be transferred to RHOBH were always false,” she stated.  Joanna goes on to say that the rumors that RHOM has been axed or renewed are also false.  Too bad, because given Joanna’s history with RHOBH resident bitch Brandi Glanville, that would’ve been an intersting season.  As far as RHOM goes Bravo TV announced their returning shows last week and the Miami franchise was not on the list.  Considering Bravo beats to their own drum, this could mean anything. In our opinion, if they do bring it back, a cast shake-up is in order.

According to E! News, former RHOC star Lydia McLaughlin is pregnant with her third child.  Lydia announced on Friday that she’s due in November and couldn’t be happier.  She goes on to say that she was trying to have another baby and didn’t want that to be her storyline on the show.  Hence the reason she left.  Lydia says it was “bittersweet” to exit RHOC but she was ready to move on.

In RHONJ news, Lauren Manzo and fiancee Vito Scalia had a blowout engagement party at the Manzo family’s Brownstone catering hall.   According to Instagram and Twitter the only remaining cast members present at the  party were Melissa and Joe Gorga and Kathy and Rich Wakile.  If you remember the Manzo family left the show to focus on Manzo’d With Children.  Obviously former castmates the Laurita’s, Chris and Jacqueline being the bride to be’s uncle and aunt, were also there.

Manzo’d With Children  may have been the right move for Caroline and company. Last week Bravo announced their new lineup, and the RHONJ spinoff, along with two Atlanta spinoffs made the cut.  Kim Zolciak, husband Kroy and their six kids will be returning for another season of Don’t Be Tardy and  Kandi and new hubby Todd will appear in Kandi’s Wedding (working title).  The short term series will be similar to  NeNe Leakes’ spinoff I Dream Of NeNe and focus on the planning of their wedding.  Apparently the theme is Coming to Americawhich symbolizes the couple meeting in Africa. Bravo has also announced some scripted shows to their lineup including Odd Mom Out, which is a series produced by and starring novelist Jill Kargman as an Upper East Side mom who is trying to keep up with the proverbial Joneses.

Back to Atlanta, according to TMZ, Kenya Moore has threatened to have Porsha Williams fired after she attacked her at the taping of the reunion show.  The other Housewives are alledgedly on Porsha’s side, but no matter what happens, we cannot wait to see this reunion.  Hey Andy Cohen, at least no one attacked you this time.

TMZ also reports that  Real Housewives of Beverly Hills husband Ken Todd is being sued for allegedly attacking two construction workers outside of Sur, the couple’s West Hollywood restaurant.  Brothers Kevin and David Cazaref were using a concrete chipper when they accused Ken of complaining about their work and threatening and attacking them.  Apparently this is not the first lawsuit to come from the incident.  Ken sued the brothers in October 2013 saying he had been attacked and that the brothers tried to extort money from him.  The Cazaref bros are now suing for slander, and assault and battery.

Okay since I am guest Roundup blogging for Brent this week I cannot omit “The Killing Off of @TheBravoholic” from Twitter fiasco.  As a former Bravoholic I was saddened when Bravo decided to get rid of the handle.  In case you’re unfamiliar with it, @TheBravoholic was a contest in which @BravoTV chose a viewer (tweeter) to tweet as the Bravoholic for a week.  Long story short, Bravo chose someone to be the Bravoholic that final week, that people were up in arms over.  This woman, had made a very nasty comment to Carole Radziwill regarding her deceased husband while live tweeting RHONY the previous week.  Complaint tweets came flooding in along with lots of unfollowing and Twitter wars.  I tell you it was a show in itself.  Bravo blamed it on a security breach sending the former ‘holics an email telling us this-

“Due to questionable activity we’ve been experiencing with the account over the past few weeks we’ve decided to retire the Twitter handle and end the weekly contest.  We have evidence of multiple people accessing the account past their tenure as Bravoholic, and since we cannot pinpoint the source of this activity, we have no choice but to deactivate the account.”

Well, this set off another Twitter frenzy, with all mourning @TheBravoholic.  It spun off polls and fights and banding together as former Bravoholics with moments of tweet silence.  While I do feel bad the account is gone, and that TBB’s own Tara Cushing and Brent Osborne should’ve been chosen over some of theses clowns (collagegate, holicgate 13), the whole thing was super entertaining.  I wish that others could’ve had the chance but it is what it is. It was fun and I got to do it and that was pretty damn cool.  It’s over but there is a group of us who are now, the few, the proud, the Holics.

Reality Roundup

Vito and Lauren (Source: Twitter)

Congratulations are due for Lauren Manzo, daughter of The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Caroline Manzo. The 25-year-old owner of Cafface Beauty Bar said ‘yes’ to boyfriend Vito Scalia‘s tearful wedding proposal on Tuesday.

“She’s so happy!” Caroline revealed to TBB Reality’s own Tara Cushing earlier this week.

“I’m so incredibly happy!! I’m in shock,” Lauren told Us Weekly. “I’m so excited to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. Well he was my brothers’ best friend first, but I stole him!”

The couple has yet to pick a date; however, they are hoping to tie the knot in the church at Fordham University, where Scalia went to school.

Vito and Lauren have both been featured on RHONJ but we are not so sure cameras were present to capture this precious moment for Caroline’s new family-centric spin-off, Manzo’d with Children. Reports are that the show already wrapped filming prior to the proposal. However if there’s a season 2 maybe we will see some wedding planning!

(Learn about Lauren’s other recent milestone here!)

Get ready for another season of bloodshed and tears! The fourth season of Vh1’s Mob Wives returns December 5th!

Now titled Mob Wives: New Blood, viewers will witness returning cast members Renee Graziano, Drita D’Avanzo, and Angela “Big Ang” Raiola mingle with newcomers Alicia DiMichele and Natalie Guercio.

Alicia will certainly fit in amongst the cast as she is no stranger to being a prison wife. Her husband, Eddie “Tall Guy” Garofalo, was indicted for racketeering, extortion, and conspiracy to murder. Alicia herself has been indicted and pled guilty to embezzlement. In fact, she is facing a potential prison sentence.

Natalie Guercio is the owner of the Carto Funeral Home—a business known for its mob-related burials in South Philadelphia.

Also returning for a fourth season is Vh1’s Couples Therapy, which will be getting a dose of Real Housewives drama! The season four cast will include The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Taylor Armstrong and her fiancée John Bluher.

Bravo’s head honcho Andy Cohen will be stepping down from his role as Executive Vice President of Original Programming & Development at the cable channel this January. It was announced earlier this week that Andy has launched his own production company, Most Talkative, and has earned a multi-year development deal with Bravo.

Andy will continue to host Watch What Happens Live! and executively produce all platforms of The Real Housewives franchise as well as host the Housewives reunions and specials.

“‘Watch What Happens Live’ is the show I have dreamt about hosting all my life — it’s the exact extension of my love for pop culture and fun,” Andy said in a statement released by Bravo. “I’m thrilled to launch my production company Most Talkative and to continue my role as EP of the ‘Housewives’ -– I couldn’t imagine leaving behind women that have become a part of my daily life.”

The current season of Watch What Happens Live! has been averaging over 850,000 viewers per episode, and has attracted some big celebrity guests in the past few months including Cher, Lady Gaga and Oprah Winfrey.

Former Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member Dina Manzo is officially returning to the hit series next season; however, production for season six has been postponed.

“They were supposed to film at Dina Manzos event but the production team couldn’t get everything in place in time so they pushed back the first filming date,” a source explained to Radar Online about a Project Ladybug fundraiser that took place on November 11.

The anticipation for season six is high as the production team is rushing to capture all the drama surrounding Teresa and Joe Giudice’s legal troubles, including Joe’s most recent offense of driving carelessly in a school zone.

Joe, who has a long history of driver’s license suspensions, was cited by police last week in Montville, N.J. for careless driving in a school zone, according to a copy of the citation obtained by ABC News.

Joe allegedly swerved into oncoming traffic lanes as a police car approached.

“The officer assumed he was texting,” Montville Township Administrator Victor Canning said. “He didn’t actually see him texting but he assumed that’s what he was doing.”

Juicy Joe is currently awaiting trial for a separate driving incident after allegedly impersonating his brother, Pete Giudice, to illegally obtain a driver’s license after his own was suspended for a DWI.

Added to that, Joe, along with his wife Teresa, was indicted on 39-counts of federal fraud and tax charges this past summer. The couple pled “not guilty” to the charges; however, if convicted Teresa and Joe could each face decades behind bars. Joe even faces being deported to Italy if he is found guilty of just one of the 39 counts in the indictment, prosecutors said — as it emerged recently that he is not a US citizen.

Eeach week I will rummage through the Bravo vault to find vintage photos from the past, revisit a classic moment from one of our favorite shows, or update the status of a past Real Housewives cast-member! Recently, we revisited one of the most infamous moments in Real Housewives history—the Teresa Giudice table-flip!

This week, we will find out what one former Real Housewives of New York City star has been up to since her departure from the series.

Alex McCord and hubby Simon van Kempen were staples on the hit reality television show since its debut in 2008; however, McCord was fired from the show in 2011 during a mass firing which also left former cast members Jill Zarin, Cindy Barshop and Kelly Bensimon with a pink slip.

Since her departure from the series, Alex launched a linen company, Aluxe Home and Hotel Collection, with her husband.  In addition, the couple made the move from Bravo to VH1 to star on the show Couples Therapy in 2012. The duo also wrote a he-said, she-said book called Little Kids, Big City, discussing their experiences of raising two children in New York City.

Currently, Alex hosts her own web-series, The Real Deal with Alex McCord, on TheStir.com and runs a fashion blog on Sulia. Simon owns and writes the popular  site Bravoratings.com ,and occasionally gets into it with other Bravolebs on Twitter…check out his site for his recent “chat” with Andy!
